ContentAgent, the automated file-based workflow management tool from ROOT6 Technology, was shown at NAB with more than 50 new features and enhancements.
A new advanced frame rate converter option, first showcased at IBC, is now available. Created from the ground up for file-based workflows and utilising powerful CPU and GPU processing, this new tool facilitates not only the traditional PAL/NTSC conversions but expands across all frame rates and deals with field order / progressive / cadence issues. Conversions are all performed accurately using phase correlation and other motion estimation data. The frame rate converter eliminates time consuming returns to baseband for standards conversions and is already proving itself in installations including BBC Sports, IMG and Omnicom. “Any facility using expensive baseband legacy hardware must see this“ said Head of Product Management, Owen Walker. “Its implementation in ContentAgent provides a flexible, high quality yet affordable solution for those needing to incorporate frame rate conversion within file-based environments.”
Further support for Avid environments is now available with an automated ingest workflow. This facilitates the transcoding of material to Avid-compliant XDCAM HD, IMX and AVC Intra files, freeing up Avid workstations for editorial. Further flexibility is offered with the ability to take IMX, XDCAM HD and AVC Intra files in other MXF flavours and re-wrap as Avid native files. In all cases, these clips may also be automatically checked in to the Interplay asset management system as part of a ContentAgent workflow.
Automated file-based workflows for broadcast deliverables will be demonstrated including full support for the AMWA AS-11 DPP delivery standard with associated metadata. As part of the deliverables workflow, ContentAgent will be seen integrated with automated file-based QC systems from Interra, Tektronix and Vidcheck.
Enhancements have also been made to ContentAgent’s Platinum transcoding engine, resulting in increased performance and functionality and API improvements now make it easier for ContentAgent processes to be automated by third party applications.
A new Color Management tab enables user-defined LUTs to be applied to any file format, addressing the variable colour spaces associated with different file types.
