Space Age Comes to Soho
Among the arsenal of technology in Molinare’s Master Control Room, and at the heart of High Definition and Digital Intermediate workflow, is a superfast data network identical to that used by NASA and other extreme content-intensive environments such as the world’s largest online gaming and music sites.
The power behind this file-based workflow is the central hub, a DVS Storage Area Network running on DataDirect Networks hardware. This high speed core enables Avid Nitris editors to work in the highest possible resolution at a blistering rate, sharing material between suites if necessary.
For Digital Intermediate work including the production of Digital Cinema Packages, the incorporation of DVS Clipster in the workflow delivers tremendous time-savings with real-time playback of RED and ARRIRAW files and those generated by high speed Phantom cameras. Material from such high resolution sources is immediately available for editing.
The installation was undertaken by technology reseller root6 and co-founder/director and workflow designer Rupert Watson commented, “Molinare’s clients will benefit tremendously from this investment, experiencing higher quality and faster throughput that simply was not possible previously.”
