DVA Keeps Mac Demo System Following Week's Trial

Bramley, Hampshire, July 23…Serving the broadcast television, corporate video, marketing, advertising and design communities, Hampshire-based DVA provides technical and creative services to both local and international clients. The facility has just added Apple-based editing and finishing complementing its existing Avid capabilities.

A new suite at the company’s Bramley HQ will feature the most powerful Mac available – an 8-core Mac Pro – running the latest Final Cut Studio 2 software.

DVA Facilities Manager Steve Longman explains. “We were talking to root6 about our future plans and they suggested we look at Final Cut Studio. As a number of our clients are Final Cut users themselves, and bring file-based material in for the edit, it seemed worth exploring so we had a fully-loaded demo system here for a week’s trial.

"We’re mainly windows-based so the Mac took a bit of getting used to but after a week we decided to keep it. We’re very impressed with the tools on offer and exceptional value for money. It’s a great way to move forward into working in HD and HDV."

Apple Solutions Experts root6 is currently inviting professional users to test drive the pre-installed Mac system for a week at their own premises. The top-of-the-range Mac Pro package with Final Cut Studio 2 pre-installed includes a 23” Apple Cinema display, dedicated FCS keyboard, 1.5 TB of RAID storage, 4 GB RAM, an AT 1900 XT Graphics card and Kona’s LHe capture card.  The Kona LHe is compatible with Apple’s new ProRes 422 postproduction format which provides uncompressed HD quality at file sizes associated with Standard Definition.
