Goldcrest upgrades and extends service offering
Goldcrest Post has upgraded its London facility with the installation of further HD Avid systems, migrated its central storage to a 16TB Unity and expanded its range of services to include kit hire on location, initially to the BBC for off-lining the second series of ‘Cranford.’
Based in New York and London, Goldcrest Post provides an end-to-end post production service for film and television. With more than 50 cutting rooms and five dubbing theatres, including the recently refurbished Dean St theatre - The Red Room, at its London facility, the company remains buoyant in the face of the current economic climate.
“It’s always difficult to justify investment during a recession,” says Keith Williams, CEO at Goldcrest Post New York and London, “but timing is everything. Spend too soon and you have kit hanging around doing nothing while you’re paying for it. Invest too late and the work may have gone elsewhere. We are delighted we invested when we did, and even happier to have all 50 of our cutting rooms, and all of our Avid systems busy.”
In recognition of the transition to HD production, the company has acquired three Avid Adrenaline HD systems in addition to a DX Nitris. Collaborative working will now have the benefit of 16TB of central Unity storage on a high-speed fibre channel network installed by root6 which supplied and will support the new equipment.
Following installation, the network and HD Avids will be earning their keep by the middle of August, vindicating the decision to invest. Recent editing projects have included ‘Inspector Barclay’ and ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’ for the BBC and ‘An Englishman in New York’ for Leopard Films.
