The Edit Store completes major upgrade with 24TB Unity
The Edit Store in Bloomsbury’s Bayley Street has just completed a major upgrade, replacing its original central storage with a new Avid Unity 24TB V5 storage area network and adding three Media Composers to the 19-suite line up at its one stop post production facility.
Originally founded in 1992, The Edit Store remains an independent shop and the current phase of expansion is due to continued success in the broadcast sector. Co founder Chris Rodmell explains. “While we pride ourselves in a high level of personal service, it’s obviously important to give clients the advantages that new technology delivers, primarily in terms of time-saving and efficiency. A major new BBC contract will be the first to benefit from this new installation.”
Edit Store’s grading suite is home to a DV FilmMaster system which will be integrated by root6 within the Avid MXF workflow in real-time on the network, thus avoiding the need for constant laying back to tape.
Additionally, the company has purchased a ContentAgent from ROOT6 Technology which will be used within file-based workflows for general transcoding, distribution and DVD production duties.
Recent Edit Store credits include ‘T.S Eliot’ for BBC Arena (BBC2) ‘Going Postal’ for Blakeway Productions (BBC2), ‘The Lion Cub from Harrods’ for Blink TV (C5) and ‘At Risk (Baby P)’ for BBC Panorama (BBC 1.
The new Avid kit was supplied by root6 which will also provide site-wide support and remote diagnostics.
