UK First. Technology Demonstration By root6 Shows Uncompressed 4K (4096 x 2160) On LCD Monitor
Visitors to the show will be the first in UK to witness the awesome quality of uncompressed 4K. Now images shot on the Red and other 4K digital film cameras can be previewed at full resolution.
Broadcast Live/Video Forum, London Jan 30… A technology demonstration on the root6 stand offers a view of the future, which in digital cinematic terms is decidedly 4K resolution.
Utilising DVS’s new Cine4K, the world’s first player of uncompressed 4K material that supports frame rates up to 60p and a prototype 4K monitor, the system enables film DPX file sequences to be previewed with no loss of quality.
Providing full 4096 x 2160 RGB 10 bit at 24 Hz specification, the technology exactly matches the requirements of the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) which considers 2K resolution to be an interim format.
“High-resolution imaging in the digital film and presentation markets is an area where we are seeing significant growth,” affirms John Harris of root6.
