root6 Training

TrainingSpurred on by the success of our seminar program, we're excited to announce the launch of a series of training events, presided over by industry legend and root6's Head of Systems Integrations, Phil Crawley.

The first of these will be a half-day, "101" course on Video test & measurement, Ideal for the runner who is going into the machine room or edit assistant who is starting to play more of an operational role.  Topics covered will include:

  • Overview of test and measurement and historically why it was necessary
  • Current requirements and the economic necessity of delivering proper material
  • Overview of the four-tiles style of current WVR/WFM models and operation
  • Line waveforms and what you're looking at
  • Overview and introduction to colour space and gamut, including legalisers

Naturally, there will be an chance for Q&A as well as the chance to get some hands on experience.  The first course is planned to be held sometime in April.  To find out more about this, and our other training events, or to register your interest - please click here

 

Avid Media Composer 3.5 released

The new software release from Avid, Version 3.5 of Media Composer,  is the first major release from Avid in 2009 and promises amongst other features the following:

  • Native End to End support for XDCAM
  • Full native metadata and disc/card support for XDCAM HD/EX and P2
  • Support for stereoscopic editing
Stereoscopic
  • Fluid Stabilizer camera tracking
  • Supported formats: Canon 24f HDV capture, Sony progressive HDV
  • MetaFuze tool, for quickly merging single-frame files (such as R3D, DPX and TIFF) from film scanning or CGI systems into a single media clip (Windows only)
  • Real-time multi-window metadata burn-in tool
