Documentation and Schematics

We fully document every build and ensure that all diagrams and schedules that allow the customer to expand and fault-find in the future are provided in industry standard formats (AutoCAD and even on A1 paper - how quaint!)

Colourimetry

Correct Colour for film and TV is a tricky business but it's extremely important. Poor colour accuracy can ruin jobs and lose clients.

We have invested in the expertise and the necessary measurement technology to get facility monitoring as close to standard as possible. We can visit your facility to calibrate a single monitor or do them all in one hit and, if you're finishing for television or film, we can make it a regular part of your maintenance schedule.

Electrical Safety

The 17th Edition of the IEE wiring regulations have been in effect for nearly three years and since July 2008 we have ensured that all of our builds conform to this specification.

When we hand over our documentation you can expect test sheets for every equipment cabinet and edit desks’ mains distribution. We PAT test every mains feed and label things as tested. We can audit existing systems as well.

Fibre Optics

root6 has supplied many thousands of terabytes of fibre-channel storage over the last decade and has much experience in the area of bespoke optical cabling.

We are often asked to audit existing installations and sometimes find other SI's efforts are sub-optimal. The required performance can only be achieved with fusion-spliced fibre and for reliability that should be over loose-tube cable.

As with mains safety we routinely provide test result sheets so the customer can be assured that their cabling will achieve the performance that the next generation of equipment will require. In our experience this cannot be said of other SIs but by investment in the right machines and training we are able to offer a comprehensive fibre optic cabling service.

Ethernet Networks

Data cabling now represents the backbone of any business. From standard cat5e through to cat7 for 10gig Ethernet we will certify every cable - measuring it’s performance, not merely ‘buzzing it out’ to make sure the ends are connected properly. Every circuit will come with an A4 sheet of test results because we are willing to stand by the performance of systems we build.

Specifications for AV Cabling

As 3G (AKA “1080/50P”) and 3D-stereoscopic high-definition become more widely used the performance of coaxial video cable becomes critical.

root6 have invested time and effort to test all the cabling we supply to destruction using the most sensitive Tektronix test sets. We can furnish a customer with real-world data over and above that quoted by manufacturers. One large SI we cross paths with is still deploying cable suitable for 360Mbits-1 in builds that really demand 3Gbits-1.

root6 Workshop

We have our own workshop in leafy Primrose Hill. Having all that space is great for pre-building systems prior to installation, saving considerable time and heartache on-site.
