Tech Breakfast - "HDR"

Tech Breakfast - "HDR"

Wednesday 23rd November
8:30 for 9am

Soho Screening Rooms, Berwick St

"Have you shot footage on a contemporary Canon or Sony camera using anything other than a 2.2 or 2.4 gamma? If so then you are already dabbling in high-dynamic range and the exciting world it promises. As UHD/4k resolution, Rec.2020 colour space and higher frame rates become common, high dynamic range is possibly the most compelling upgrade to the TV experience.

Join root6 for one of our legendary tech breakfasts and we'll cover the reasons for gamma in TV and the differences between Slog, Clog, HLG (hybrid log gamma), DolbyPQ and ACES"

As always the breakfast is free to attend but spaces are limited, so prior registration is strongly advised.

Breakfast will be served from 8:30am for a 9am start.

Rohde & Shwarz CLIPSTER assists BFI's "Unlocking Film Heritage" project

BFI’s Film Forever five-year plan to engender a vibrant film culture and prosperous UK film industry is underpinned by an ambition to unlock the heritage held in the National Archive, one of the largest and diverse collections of films and TV programmes in the world.  To assist the Unlocking Film Heritage (UFH) project and to create Distribution Masters for new BFI funded UK features such as ‘Mr Turner’ and ‘Suffragette,’ the BFI is using R&S Clipster, supplied through re-seller root6.

“With the aim of digitising and making available 10,000 films in the Film Forever plan, the ability to handle large files efficiently in a streamlined operation was essential,” said BFI Film Conservation Manager Kieron Webb. “Clipster is helping us across a range of preservation and distribution activities from the creation of Digital Cinema Distribution Masters, through DCPs to the content for our multi-platform VOD offering, BFI Player. Its ability to work with a range of file formats, handle large files and play them back in real time is very beneficial.”
